OAAN Re-electes Sola Akinsiku’ Led Executive Council At 40th AGM

The Out Of Home Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) successfully held her 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the OAAN Secretariat, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State on Thursday, July 17th 2025. This OAAN AGM is very significant being the 40th edition as well as the election of new Executive Council to steer the associations affairs in the next two years thus concluding with the re-election of Mr. Sola Akinsiku-led executive council to lead the Association accordingly.

The elected executives include Mr. Sola Akinsiku, frpa as President; Mr. Omo Abunene, frpa as Vice President; Mr. Babs Fagade, frpa as Publicity Secretary; Mr. Chinweuba Nwagu, rpa as Treasurer and seven others as EX-Officio with the Immediate Past President; Chief Emmanuel Ajufo, frpa in the constitutional capacity as IPP; Mr. Churchil Nwagwu, rpa; Mrs. Adeola Odesanya, rpa; Chief George Onwujiariri, rpa; Mr. Ambose Nbodim, rpa; Mr. Thaddeus Ukpe, rpa; Mr. Kayode Akanbi, rpa and Mrs. Modupe Adewuyi, rpa.

The OAAN 40th AGM was well attended and honoured by high-profile industry leaders, including the Director General of Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, frpa ably represented by Madam Suzy Agbor, Prince Fatiu Akiolu, rpa (Managing Director, Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency), Mr. Akanimo Udoh (Director, Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage, FCT), Mr. Toba Adeyeye (General Manager, Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency), Mrs. Brenda Nwagwu (Vice President, Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria), Mr. Osamede Uwubanmwen (President, Advertisers Association of Nigeria) and Sir Charles Chijide, frpa (Chairman, Board of Trustees, OAAN) attended the event and conveyed congratulatory messages, commending OAAN’s enviable feat in the industry.

Barrister Adekunle Tuyo, Esq. was on ground with a well research paper delivered as the key note speaker of the AGM. Delivering a paper on the AGM, themed: *”Redefining Professionalism in OOH; A Path to Nation Building,”* he touched on the origin of the Out of Home media practice dating back and referenced the book of Daniel in the Bible to drive home his point. On the statutory regulation powers to regulate OOH, he draw attention to the fourth schedule of constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In conclusion, he charged OAAN to embrace research to facilitate audience measurement metrics that would promote the practice of OOH and make it competitive amongst other media types.

The re-elected President, Mr. Sola Akinsiku, frpa expressed gratitude to the Board of Trustees, council members, and members for their unrelenting support via the mandate to steer the affairs of the association for another two years. He reminded members of the new OAAN constitutional in effect as well as the requirement to uphold it. Hence, the executive council positions of General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, which are not included in it have been dropped accordingly. While emphasising that the new role of Executive Secretary will streamline governance as contained in the constitution of the association..

Reiterating the importance of electoral confidence, Mr. Akinsiku noted, “When elected, it signifies trust from our members. Our re-election reflects their confidence in our leadership and vision.”

Looking ahead, he outlined the association’s plans: “We are well-acquainted with our current challenges and progress. Our focus remains on advancing professionalism within the industry, particularly through the realization of the OAAN Charter, which is now within reach. Very soon, we will have cause for celebration.”
