APCON INDUCTS 63 MEMBERS AS FELLOWS OF ADVERTISING
It has been over ten years that the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) last held a fellowship induction for the advertising profession in Nigeria. The long wait for APCON fellowship induction was ended on January 19, 2022 at a well attended ceremony as the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) inducted 63 senior practitioners of Advertising in Nigeria as fellows on Wednesday in Lagos.
In his speech, the Registrar of APCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, stated that the council is committed to providing conducive business and professional grounds to make sure that the practice and business of advertising in Nigeria is conducted in an ethical manner without compromising best practices.
He added: “It is also my pleasure to heartily congratulate the advertising practitioners that would today be inducted into the fellowship cadre of the advertising profession having satisfactorily met the required criteria stipulated by law and consequently attaining the highest and distinguished class in the profession. “This is a delightful moment for APCON and the advertising industry particularly being that the last fellows’ induction was held over 10 years ago. In the course of my two-and-a-half decades in this industry, I have known each of the inductees personally and I have worked with virtually every one of them in different capacities, therefore, I can attest that none of the fellows inducted today lacked the professional aptitude to be designated as such.”
The newly inducted fellows include the industry veterans who are long serving practitioners and have contributed to the growth of the industry.
Among the 63 veteran advertising practitioners inducted at the ceremony that took place in Lagos on 19th January, 2022 are: Chief Emmanuel Ajufo, Babs Fagade, Hon. Babatunde Adedoyin, Ify Kagho, Omowunmi Owodunni, HRM. Kupoluyi Ayodele Ayodeji, Steve Babaeko, Femi Adelusi, Lanre Adisa, Emeka Okeke, Chidozie Mbanefo, Dr. Uche Nworah, Eki Adzufeh, Dr. Ken Onmyeali Ikpe, Olukayode Oluwasona, Hannah Oyebanjo, Obinna Aniche and Idorernyen Enanag.
One of the doyens of advertising profession in Nigeria, Sir Steve Omojafo in his speech advised the newly inducted on professionalism, thus; “As fellows of the profession, I implore you to remain steadfast and faithful to your obligations and to the Oath of Advertising Practice which you have repeatedly affirmed at every progress you have made in the course of your professional upgrade.
“Kindly continue to render every necessary support to APCON especially in training and professional development of the younger practitioners who aspire to improve their career and advance themselves in this valued field. Let me mention that you are also obligated to give yourselves and the industry the best improvement and capacity building worthy of fellows of the profession.”
