OAAN BOT CHAIRMAN, OTUNBA BAMIKOLE ADEMULEGUN: OAAN LOSSES AN ICONIC LEADER

The Nigerian advertising industry woke up to another unpleasant news on June 10, 2023 of the passing of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) Mr. Bankole Ademulegun, frpa. As the news of his demise filtered from last Saturday, the reason for the cause of his death remains unknown as at press time.

Mr Kola Ademulegun who was popularly referred as the “People’s General” was a fellow of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), former president of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) and was until his death the BOT Chairman of OAAN as well as a respected leading light in Nigeria’s Integrated Marketing Communications industry.

In a press release issued on the death of Mr. Ademulegun, the President of Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria, Chief Emmanuel Ajufo stated;

It is with great shock and utmost disbelief that we received the news of the passing of Otunba Bamikole Ademulegun, frpa who until the very sad development was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria, OAAN.

A leading light in the larger marketing communication subsector of the Nigerian economy the late Bamikole Ademulegun was a co-founder of Media Link Nigeria Limited, one of the forerunners of modern Out-of-Home Media groups in the country. He was the Vice Chairman and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company until death came.

A former President of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria, the Late Otunba Bamikole Ademulegun, one of the first set of fellows of the Advertising Practice in Nigeria served both the industry and our Association with great dedication, commitment and meritoriously at all times and in all areas.

A great leader and a role model to many of the younger generation of practitioners in the marketing communication/advertising industry in Nigeria, the Late Bamikole Ademulegun will be sorely missed by all of us in the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria, OAAN.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the Executive Council and entire membership of the Association, and with a heavy heart, I hereby express deep condolence to the family and partner of our departed leader.

Meanwhile, a Condolence Register has been opened at our Association’s Secretariat for all friends and colleagues.

May His Soul Rest in Peace.

Emmanuel AJUFO, frpa
